Mustard production flourishes in Bautzen. However, this is not the beginning of today's Bautzner brand, which only comes onto the market later. The deep-rooted tradition of mustard production is later successfully taken over by Bautzner.
EAST GERMAN WITH MEDIUM SHARP DIALEC
The starting signal was given with the VEB "Lebensmittelbetriebe Bautzen". VEB stands for "People's Own Company" in the former GDR. Soon after, the now most famous mustard, the Bautzen medium-hot mustard, found its way onto the shelves. At that time, Bautzner was still written with an "e".

Mustard lovers remain unwaveringly loyal to the brand. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the West also developed a taste for it.
